Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest action-packed game that players dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for celebrating action and madness with similar excitement, all while weaving gripping, politically driven stories. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two visionaries whose creations have exemplified all of those elements.
What to Expect
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also mirror the video games' style by featuring a different location and group of personalities in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family continues to lift me up with their steady belief and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology program. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from year to year, while always delving into the nature of society through this complex and unpredictable lens, is a dream come true. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and present our mutual bold, visionary style to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
